Total Stealth

How does anybody handle total stealth missions? The last one i did, i just stood behind cover and used Quiet, bombardments, and air support to kill everyone and made sure everyone was dead. Then i just casually walked in to extract the prisoner without a sweat.

The bombardment brings your rating down doesn't it?

Well...thats really the whole point of stealth games, people like me enjoy them over running and gunning.

I gotta admit though, going gunz blazing in this game is *beep* fantastic, even a guy like me who loves stealth just wants to go all the way action sometimes

It's easy. Just use D-Dog to mark everybody out, and avoid them. If someone sees you or is in front of where you need to be, get D-Dog to stun them.

I did the oil field mission last night. I snuck over a wall, and found I was right next to the power grid control. I turned it off, and waited for someone to show up to investigate. Wait until they turn it back on, and radio to CP that everything is ok. Once your guy says "over", take him. Kill him and hide the body well, or use the wormhole fulton. Leave no trace. You can repeat this until there are no guys left.

Other missions: Take your time. Thoroughly scout. I always place markers on the guys in riot gear/bullet proof suits, so I know where they are at all times. Get comfortable with the AI's methods for detection and response. Use it to your advantage. Know that other soldiers won't respond to pools of blood or a pile of guns if there are no bodies. Subdue and carry the entire platoon to an obscure corner of the map if you have to, one man at a time. I spent two and a half hours on the Walker Gear sabotage mission.

Have you found the African/Afghan Lullaby tapes? Use them from cover near some enemies. Make sure your Idroid speakers are turned on. Nearby troops will fall asleep.

You can use your knocking sound lure to separate guys patrolling together too. They are usually about 2-4 meters apart. Watch their distance reading. They will only hear the knock if they are within 14 meters of the sound. Let the guy in the rear hit that 14 meter sweet spot, knock to get his attention, and his buddy keeps walking because he was 16-18 meters from your noise and never heard it.

I was in that mission no longer than a few minutes. I bombed the crap out of that place and destroyed all the walker gears at once and hauled a$$. Its not until the extreme missions that I'm forced to exercise some serious strategy.

No kidding? You can bomb the crap out of stuff during total stealth? I stayed silent, assuming that sort of ruckus would result in immediate mission failure.

Oh. . . those lullaby tapes vanish after you use them. I was surprised to find that out last night. . . I wish I had known. I would have saved them for a harder part.

I am not looking forward to the extreme versions of the Skulls battles.

Total stealth just means you cant get spotted.
