Thoughts on the final twist~

BEWARE IF YOU HAVENT FINISHED CHAPTER 2....

MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT

So it turns out that the Phantom Pain theme extends to Big Boss himself as the character you play as is the Medic from Ground Zeroes. The MEdic being an extension of your own identity and personality.

While Thematically I get what Kojima is saying and it's pretty heady stuff, I have to admit I did not like it. It felt like an M. Night twist thrown in to shake things up.

I have analyzed and get the whole concept of Big Boss' loss being our phantom pain and that we are a part of building the lies of his legend. But I still hate that Outer Heaven and all its glory (ie the first encounter with Solid Snake) was actually Big Medic..

It's like finding out that when Luke and Darth Vader meet in Cloud city in empire, that wasnt Darth VAder but someone else. In Jedi it's the real Vader for sure!

It explains why Big Boss was killed twice.... cuz thats what the big mystery was? I mean it even kills the end of MGS 4 where Big Boss says "you beat me twice".

Was this ever a conspiracy among fans? I mean, I assumed he got away presumed dead and returned in Zanzibarland.... but no, two Big Bosses.

Okay....

I haven't finished the game but boy did I lose my s..t when I heard about this 2 weeks before the game came out. Holy crap. What's worse is that Kojima gave the bloody twist away in the announcement trailer. It was right there under our very noses. Its also probably the main reason Hayter wasn't called back because of the fact that him voicing two characters would've given it away straight off the bat. But by getting a new voice actor it created confusion instead. I get what Kojima was trying to pull with this twist but its horrible. Its mainly horrible because its executed terribly and because if you're gonna pull a twist like that then you also need to give us and the character time to seek it in. Someone did a very good fan comic that I would've loved to see in the actual game because then it would've somewhat made it more acceptable and emotional. Here we go...http://i.imgur.com/qUHXy5n.jpg

IF THAT…had been the ending of the game then it would've worked. But nope. It truly does feel like a goddamn last minute N-Night *beep* twist. "DID YOU RIKE IT?".
"No…I actually didn't you lying, deceitful, trolling son of a bitch."

Honestly feels as bad as the Mandarin twist from Iron Man 3. The only difference is that they actually did a good job Foreshadowing the twist in this game since there's so many hints and clues at it. The build up to it basically is done well. But the execution of it is meh.

Love breeds sacrifice, which breeds hatred. Then you can know pain - Pain
