I don't know anything about child services so please forgive my ignorance, but what is the shelter for. Is it for orphans??? Is it for kids whose parents can't handle them anymore??? Is it some super lax psych ward??? I only ask this because I thought it was strange that Jayden had a parent, who was well to do and yet she couldn't stay with him, but he had unsupervised visits with her during the weekend.
shareIt's likely a residential treatment facility, where children and teens are placed when the home isn't deemed a safe place or a good place for child, either because of the actual home environment or because the child needs better supervision outside the home because the child has some sort of issues - maybe criminal or psychological. The situation described in the movie is actually fairly typical of these types of places.
shareMy son was in a similar facility, eerie how much it looked like it from the outside, and pretty similar on the inside. I just watched this film tonight. Going to post what I thought they got right and what they could've researched more. My son is adopted and has Reactive Attachment Disorder.
