So there is no Prize for De Leon?

Supposedly the prize is you keep all the cars in the race. From what we saw all the cars were pretty much totaled, at the very least the frame on most of those cars is gone.

But it appears that the finish line for De Leon is a dead end, which means that the end result is jail time and IIRC California crushes street racing cars sooo.... the prize is jail time and you lose your car?

Pretty much. Wasn't Michael Keaton's acting great in this movie? He really gets into this race watching it on his 10 year old computer.

I didn't quite get the De Leon either. Even that Dino Brewster guy had to approach someone for a $5,000,000 sub! It's a poorly organized illegal race for "pinks", only instead of 20-somethings racing nitroused Japanese compacts with big spoilers, it's for rich guys to race $1million plus hyper cars! Not worth the title of winner, given the likelihood of prosecution and practicality of keeping the opponents cars. They should have just made it a cash prize for Tobey to reopen Marshall's Motors.

I assumed that people that own cars that expensive would have full coverage insurance. Obviously Tobey Marshall didn't have his car insured as he kind of stole it and it wasn't even supposed to exist and him racing that car was literally a last minute decision, but I imagine the Mustang that he was supposed to race was insured.

Not quite. You are not supposed to end the race with police cars following you, so, Paul character could have finnish the race and lost the police, instead he choose the save the douchebag.

And if you have a couple of millions to buy a car, then you have a couple more to pay insurance. So, either way, the winner takes all, the pinks or the insurance money if the cars are totaled...

But how could he have ended the race with police cars following him when it was a complete dead end?
