Sympathy for suicide bombers?
Do we really need a film to immortalize these guys? If a film is to be made about tragic events like this, why not focus on the victims?

shareI think the film tries to understand the bombers, not sympathize with them. We see that they're exposed to a lot of anti-Western, jihadi propaganda but I don't see any indication that the film agrees with that point of view. Since what they do is so insane I think the film wants to see just where those guys are coming from and what motivates them. Ultimately it's still a mystery. You can see how they can get fired up to do...something, but just blow themselves up? Doesn't make any sense. I think a lot of it has to do with the innate passivity of Islam...everything is "God willing" meaning there's nothing you can do to improve your life. Death is the only option. But I'd say basically it's the religion that's evil, not the poor, dumb, confused young men.
