Season 2 'Dancers can't date Players' drama

Jelena and Zero are going out on dates (not to mention Jelena's previous relationship with a player) but the protagonist girl and her man have to hide and be secretive?

I don't get why there's such a disconnect. Why hasn't Jelena been kicked off since apparently everyone knows who she's been with? Why is this a plot point at all?
