An Accidentral Soldier.

Very believable story and very well acted.

reply

Well acted, yes. Believable, no.

She couldn't speak English and he couldn't speak French. How could he have been telling her military secrets? On top of that, he was a Private and wouldn't have been privy to any secrets.

I know that she was distrusted because of her husband, but even that can't change the fact that he couldn't have communicated secrets to her, even if he knew them and even if he wanted to.

Yet, for some reason, no one even tried to argue that point.

reply

Yes, you're right, but I mean as a whole was a pleasant hour and half.

reply

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Personally, I love it when Julia Zemiro speaks French.

For me, if a slow-paced drama doesn't pay attention to those sort of details, then I lose interest.

But that was part of the plot. Yes, we know she wasn't a traitor and there wasn't any espionage occurring, but it was clear that political pressure was put on the nascent Australian government and army to "go along" with the French policy on traitors and deserters while in France. And according to France, Colombe, because she had a German speaking husband and reads German, besides harbouring a deserter, is a traitor. 🐭
