Ger's Death
While I understand why Ger's family wanted answers about what had happened, their handling of it came across quite poorly. They acted as if there was some conspiracy or cover up, like Marco had killed him or something. Are they seriously surprised that these guys, suffering in awful conditions and with little oxygen, couldn't remember what had happened? They were probably so focused on staying alive and getting off the mountain that they couldn't keep track of anything other than themselves. I thought it was common that climbers look out for #1 first and foremost. I got the impression that Marco was trying to help figure out what happened to Ger, but really had no idea, hence why his story had changed. Given the conditions he was dealing with, I'm not surprised. I didn't think Ger's family treated him very fairly.
It seems to be a common thing whenever people die climbing a mountain, people point blame at the survivors. It really irks me. Each person knows the risks of what they are getting into. They know they risk death by climbing a mountain like K2. Why are the survivors blamed when someone can't make it? They're busy enough trying to keep alive themselves. Rolf Bae's wife certainly didn't point any fingers when he died. Ger's family really didn't need to sound so accusatory when speaking with the other climbers about what happened to Ger. He climbed a f-ing dangerous mountain, accidents happen, people die and it isn't anyone's fault.
