Did the Soviets have a 'clone' of the M-79 in their inventory?


Just wondering.

I'm talking about a dedicated single shot thumper, as seen in this movie. I know they had the Tishina in the '70s which attached to their AKs.

No. But the Socialist Republic Of Vietnam built their own version of the M79, unimaginatively called the M79VN, with a plum red stock and an optical sight.

It's certainly possible some made their way into Soviet hands.

Yes, they did. It came out in the late 1980's, and is called the RGS-50. It's a 50 mm single shot, very much like the M78. Also comes in a three barrel version.
