Bula quo

I've been a life long quo fan(I'm 51) but this film is terrible! It's like a bad episode of last of the summer wine! At one point rick starts singing living on an island! And he's suddenly 20 years younger with short hair? I love quo! But this is an insult to your fans.

I've met one of the actors and was mulling over buying the dvd eventually. Not a fan of the Quo at all. As a fan binhead007, should I buy or not buy?
That is the question!

I'm sure amazon won't charge more than 50p for this DVD! So you got nothing to lose ? And it will help you sleep and its cheaper than coco x

reply

Lol! ta, binhead007!
Must admit very surprised the rating is 6.9, currently, higher than some Brad Pitt & Fassbender movies, or movies directed by that rather excellent director, Kevin MacDonald.
I thought the 6 or so users who have voted must have been Quo fans, but so are you!!
I believe a sequel is planned for 2014, filming in India?

reply

The 6 must be status quo Craig fairbrass and the little blond girl from the film? There was 3 of us at the cinema yesterday! And it was the only showing? Yes one show one day
Great film? Lol x

reply

The "little blonde girl" was Laura Aikman, the tv actress.

Heard most of a radio interview just before lunch today between Ken Bruce (Radio 2) and Francis Rossi.
Mr Rossi said, it (the film) was "supposed to be funny",(emphasis on supposed to be).

The Quo lead man went on to admit that it might well turn out to be "the biggest stinker of all time"! PR out the window ?? lol!

Ken Bruce replied, "well, you are old enough now to take it" and FR quickly agreed, with a laugh.

More or likely now to buy the dvd? You tell me, but am not holding my breath.

reply

Possibly the worst film ever made, and I've seen the remake of 'The Wicker Man'.
Rossi and Parfitt are staggeringly awful, totally incapable of even playing themselves convincingly. The whole thing is a colossal waste of 78 minutes.
And I'm a Quo fan... surely some sort of tax dodge is the only excuse for this garbage. 1/10.

reply

Well, that's a dose of honesty on here, jaloquisimo! :)

Strange in a way it is rated 6.5, admittedly from a paltry 39 users. Let's comment again when we note users in the high hundreds ; doubt they will ever reach high thousands, lol!

Was tipping towards buying the dvd, eventually, but based on your forthright summary, and binhead's,looks like I will give it a miss. A bit of a pity, as have met one of the actors and was curious how he performed in this latest general release project of his. Have to wait on his next one, hopefully loads better!

Did you watch it because of the Quo alone, or because it is a comedy? (Am not a fan of theirs, in fact never been into Rock music. Like some Coldplay stuff).

reply

One wonders why they decided to do such a project now - in the twilight of both their musical career and popularity? One can imagine the this being similar to morecambe and wise's two film outings of the '60s but in the quos's case at least 2 decades late!

reply

Yes it's a terrrible movie...but getting well paid to spend time messing around in the South Pacific with your family & friends is a privilege they've earned. As far as i know Ricks' hair started coming out in clumps while on location so he had it cut. That scene must have been shot last.

reply

Maybe it was just a bit of fun but some people couldn't take it in the spirit it was intented? Lighten up, watch it again and have a laugh!

reply

I've loved the Quo since the 70s but I'm not gonna lie, this was absolute garbage and an embarrassment. Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to be thrown off a waterfall.
