Why was the father whipping Loretta Figgis?
I watched the movie on a plane and got interrupted. So, one moment he's glad to have Loretta home, and he's abusing her. What did I miss?
shareHe was a very religious man and I'm guessing corporal punishment was accepted in those days. He felt beating her would get her back on the right track.
I'm not saying I agree with it but I could see how his character could think this would help his daughter.
