I liked it, but it had problems

On a superficial level, the lead actors were gorgeous. But that was part of the problem. I didn't believe they were homeless fur a second. But I liked how the film tried to address these things by making Jonas a rich guy in disguise, and Luke Grimes character mention how unlikely it is that Gabriella Wilde would go to see a Charlie Chaplin film by herself.

I think Thomas Dekker is just a bad actor in this film. I didn't know what the baddie he was selling the jewellery to was trying to do. Whatever it was, it didn't work.

Richard Dreyfuss brought a spark to his small part. Shocking how old he looks though. Can he really be only 67? Regardless, he was good, I liked the cigar story a lot, it seemed authentic.

Luke Grimes is a beautiful man.

I think they were trying to shure

... show that rich people can also be decent and nice, which is definitely true.

Overall, not a bad effort.

Get real..........both of them could have landed a modelling contract once they'd had a bath. It is ludicrous to portray homeless young people in such a way, I would love to know what a few homeless teenagers would make of the ridiculous plot and the concept of the beautiful people disguised as beach bums. Hollywood dream factory drivel.......and you swallowed it hook line and sinker

It would seem that both of them had a troubled home life. It doesn't matter if you are beautiful or ugly, sometimes your parents or your home life can mess you up and make it hard to live a 'normal' adult life. Thought it was good movie and really said something. Something you don't get much in films these days.

Taylor Kitsch was supposedly once a NYC subway-living homeless person AND an Abercrombie & Fitch model, so the conditions are not mutually exclusive.

I picked up the story where the girl visits here parents. From this point on the movie was okay. Then I watched from the beginning and the first half definitely jumped the shark.

It jumped the shark when Michael stumbled into that theater of all theaters in L.A. for no apparent reason and at exactly the same single moment Kelly was sitting there.

EDIT: Okay, someone clarified in this other thread I made myself that Kelly was choosing this movie, because Stephanie had a movie poster of The Kid on her wall. Since she obviously tried to connect with her, that makes sense. Michael ending up in the except same screening is still a bit far fetched after all. Anyways, this this wasn't the only problematic scene of that kind, and I'm still not sure if I can excuse them all ;)

reply

It was likely a special screening, since the movie is so old. What is less likely is that in a town full of cineastes the theater was practically empty.
