Phony rave user reviews suspected.

Lots of brand new members with no other reviews to their name raving about this flick. Which would be in keeping with the ethics of people who cold text spam. Are the makers of this Christian film cheaters? Liars? Why can't they just honestly trust the court of public opinion?

Don't waste your time insulting me. That time would be better spent asking yourself if you approve of this behavior.

reply

Well, Christians are notoriously dishonest, and insincere. but their fake reviews won't help this piece of crap. Everyone can see that this is garbage without reading reviews.

The same thing seems to apply to all christian propaganda films. Christian groups will make all these "positive" reviews to it to help gain publicity. My aunt and uncle did that when Left Behind came out. They tried to get me to do it too. In fact, I should expect an email from them any minute now, saying to post something positive about this movie on Facebook so my friends and I will go see it. They have another thing coming.

Same happens on all non-christian films too.

Whats it matter,a handful of people cant affect a scoring measured by thousands.

reply

Dear XtroTerrestial,

Please learn proper English. The correct term is "They have another think coming", not "They have another thing coming". Think about it. If I say I think you are anti-christian, the correct response is "You have another think coming", not "another thing coming". I never said anything about a "thing".

reply

Well, you say po-tat-o, I say Pa-tah-toh!

WHAT???
I am a Christian, loved by God, His son Jesus Christ died so that i might have eternal life, even though i am not always "good". Your comment that you state as fact is not true. You have no evidence. I really hope you will get to know some people who actually love Jesus. Either you have sadly met some people who claim faith in Jesus & do not know how to behave it, or you just aren't telling the truth.

This IS coming. Our civil liberties ARE being taken away. Just like in Nazi Germany. There is a little story that goes "When they [the Nazis] came for the Jews, I was not a Jew, so I didn't care. When they came for the disabled, i was not disabled. When they came for the gypsies, i was not a gypsy and i did not care.

When they came for ME... there was no one left to care".

THAT is happening. We have only seen the tip of the iceberg, but as i read the comments here, i am reminded that when Jesus was here on earth, He said that the world would hate we who love Him. And that is just what you are doing - Pinku_Eiga. You don't know me. Yet you judge all "Christians". I am notoriously honest, sometimes to a fault. I am sincere, i show all of me to people i know, the good and the bad.

So when this world ends, and they come for everyone around you? I hope that you will have stood up for them, be they Muslin, Jewish, Atheist, or Christian. I would die for your freedom. I hope you are treated better than you have treated your neighbors who love Jesus. The thing about us? We don't hate you. My family enjoyed this film, as did many families - so I am pretty sure there is no need for fake posts or reviews or whatever. It is just Christian-bashing.

reply

Maybe you are a little TOO honest; because you sound very extreme. i too "love my neighbor," i love people in general. But I don't feel like I have to say it, or "prove it" by convincing other people all the time. Words mean very little, actions are all-important. The thing that bothers me about a lot of Christians is exactly this; they spend an awful lot of time talking, trying to convince people of how "good' they are. People who are truly "good" don't need to tell others that they are good; that is just bragging. Believe me, I love people, all people, as much as you. I just don't feel the need to convince everyone how wonderful and generous i am. and I respect the teachings of the Bible, and the Koran, but I don't live in the past. These books were written thousands of years ago, and it is just not realistic to live the words of these books so literally. I'm sorry but people who talk so much about the subject, sound a bit like extremists, and fanatics in 2013. Maybe you should save this kind of talk for dinner table discussion. Because everyone is entitled to their beliefs. And you won't change anyone's mind with mere words.

Hey, non-American here, so please enlighten me: How are your civil liberties in danger because you are not allowed to subjegate everyone to your religious views? That your state can not show preferance of religion or pick sides should be good for everyone, including you. Say your area suddenly gets a larger population of muslims, mormons, etc. would you be ok with islamic laws being passed or the state endorsing the islam but denying your religion the same privilege?

You are still allowed to do any religious ritual, essentially just save human (and animal) sacrifaces - so what is the issue? Your children can still pray in school - it's just that the teacher can't force anyone to pray or officially set off time for it. Where are your civil liberties being threatened? It's really just the right not to oppress everyone that has been taken away from you.

Also, every christian I have even engaged in an honest conversation has proven to be dishonest. There might be truthful christians out there of course, but stating that christians has a rep for being liars is quite accurate. Just look at the nonsense you are spouting - though you may honestly believe it.

A great deal probably aren't phony. They probably are from conservatives who don't otherwise use IMDB, and want to put in a good word to counter their persecution complex. This does have the effect of making the movie look like anything other than what it is, poorly-made trash. That even members of the target audience who would be discerning for these quality issues in any other movie that didn't have an overt political agenda are willing to overlook its flaws is terrible, but I do believe a lot of these are legit reviews. Not all, but most, and it does lead to a more positive representation than it'd otherwise deserve.

reply

Doubtful. I went through the profiles of every person who gave this movie a positive score (of 4 or higher). Most of them have only ever written one review (the review being of this movie). There were a few people with more than that, but only a few. For comparison's sake, the people who gave this a negative review had at least 2 written reviews. Hopefully that tells you something.

reply

I know I gave it a positive review, mostly for sheer wackiness, The Hammer, and a love of propaganda, but I'm real. I just haven't felt like I needed to review stuff on here before.

reply

My favorite reviews are the ones that say, "packed theater" and "at the end, the audience applauded and sang God Bless America." Bull! Every time I stuck my head into a screening of this piece of crap while at the multi-plex (on weekend nights), I never saw more than 10 people in the theater.

When I endured this turd of a "film," there were 4 people in the theater. And that was including my son and I. And we didn't pay admission. I just wanted to show him a prime example of inept filmmaking. LAST OUNCE didn't let me down!

reply

When I saw it at a special "Patriot Day Screening" (for 9/11), there was one other person in the theater. I asked him what brought him to the movie, before it started, and he just said that it sounded good in the paper. He left before the end credits rolled. :(

reply

Had to laugh at that. ;-) The amount of hatred spewed towards Christians on IMDB actually validates that feeling of persecution.

I haven't seen the film, but the posts from both sides seem to point at a movie that has the "Django Unchained" effect: like it or dislike it, people are going to talk about it.

How many of you people have actually seen this?

reply

I also suspect that many of these "Rave Reviews" are phony. The film is not that good nor did I even manage to finish the film.Watched it for around 20 minutes and then promptly took it out.
It was not worth me finishing.I do not enjoy Christian Film.

reply

Why are these crappy 'films' even getting released in major theaters anyway? Used to be that these things were shown at 'special screenings' (usually in somebody's church or in a rented hall) and were advertised beforehand in small ads in the newspaper-and most of them came from Billy Graham's company World Wide Pictures. From what I've heard, the fundies have their own multiplex chains similar to the ones that are secular-run; what the frack are they doing showing their crap in standard theaters, then?

reply

Christians in America have deep pockets because it is a business there, like everything else.

reply

I noticed that just about every 10 star gushing review of this piece of crap movie was from reviewers who ONLY reviewed this movie. And notice how some of them are just names followed by numbers. Lots of false rating inflation.

That's kind of like how Christians were telling each other to buy a ticket for "Passion of the Christ" even if they didn't intend to see the movie so they could boost box office returns. Is it dishonest? Yes, but apparently it's OK to lie for Jesus.

reply

Phony reviews from a film made by a company called Veritas (which is Latin for truth) entertainment!!

Its that man again!!

reply

Yes, I noticed that too. I really hate hypocrisy. Or is it just an Orwellian thing, like the Ministry of Truth, or the old Russian newspaper full of state-sponsored lies, "Pravda" (truth)?

reply

It’s so annoying when they do that on this site because they usually do it very badly: Their rave ‘reviews’ sound exactly like an ad, they’re excessively enthusiastic in their push to get people to go see it (or buy the DVD), they use way too many exclamation points and, as you point out, they’re one-time reviewers. It’s so blatantly obvious it’s an insult to my intelligence.

As for the movie, it's truly awful and hopelessly inept. It’s so heavy-handed, clumsy, artificial and obvious it makes the worst of the Lifetime movies look subtle, nuanced and refined by comparison. It would probably fit beautifully on a double bill with Tommy Wiseau's The Room.

reply

Remember that to a Christian, this is a great movie. It is all subjective.

reply

Remember that, to a sane, logical person, this movie sucks. It is all subjective.

I should also let you know that I myself am a Christian, so don't claim that I'm not. I just know bad movies when I see them.
