So what exactly happened to Dwight's parents?

Do we never find out?

All I got was, that Dwight was out to kill a family of gangsters.

Dwight's dad was having an affair with the other family's mom... So the other family's father shot up the blue Pontiac killing both of Dwight's parents. The one that got out of prison said he did it so his father that had cancer would die a free man. So Dwight killed the wrong person. Turned out that kid in the end was Dwight's half brother.

reply

Uh, you are supposed to post spoiler alerts.

reply

I hope you're not talking to me because I answered the original poster's question.

reply

Yes, it's you memayse1701. Your post gives away the end of the movie. So it is up to you to post a spoiler alert.

It's a simple fix, just edit your post by highlighting and use the "spoiler" tab.

Like this.

reply

Wha... Are you serious? Why would anyone who hasn't seen the movie be reading this thread?

reply

It's funny, because I was watching it at work and got about half way in and they kept mentioning the parent's death, so I thought I had missed something because co-workers kept talking and being loud, so I checked IMDB and saw this thread and, well here I am.

BUT

I knew the risks, so I have only myself to blame. I suspected it might be something that was left intentionally vague that they would reveal at the end, so I figured I might be setting myself up for a spoiler.

So you're both right.

reply

I hope you're not talking to me because I answered the original poster's question.

who the hell else would he be talking to? you were the only one at that point that spoiled the movie. not that i'm complaining since i've already seen it, but sh!t man, that was such a stupid post you posted....

as for the dude that was complaining, watch the fcuckin movie before even coming on the boards for discussion. what the hell is up with these ADD people who come to the boards before watching the movie and complain about people posting spoilers???

reply

maybe the clue to there being spoliers is if the question is about the plot in the first place

reply

Why on earth would you read a thread with this title if you didn't want to see spoilers?

reply

I don't like people who thoughtlessly spoil, but damn man if you're going to open a thread like this and not expect answers to be involved, you may be expecting too much.

That's why I don't open threads entitled "who was the murderer?" if I don't want to know.

...then whoa, differences...

reply

So if someone looks at this thread and hasn't seen the movie how are they supposed to know what "Dwight's parents" has to do with this movie?

If your post includes the end of a movie it should contain a spoiler alert.

reply

If I haven't seen a movie and I see there is someone who felt the need to ask a question like this, I assume the answer was not plain and/or was part of the mystery within the movie, so I don't look.

If I haven't seen the movie this question really wouldn't have any relevance to me anyway. All I know is something's happened to his family, I want finding out what to be a part of the viewing experience.

...then whoa, differences...

reply

Except what happened to his parents explains the main character's motivation.

What you choose to do is fine for you. Here on the IMDB boards when one gives away the end of a movie they are supposed to post a spoiler alert.

See the "spoiler" tab? It's right there above the reply box.

reply

We're just having a discussion, buddy. I'm not spoiling anything for you here, no need to be a sarcastic dick about it to me.

It comes down to using your imagination. If you think a post by someone who's seen the movie may contain hints of things you don't want to know about, then avoid it. The thread title in this case is a prime example, as far as I'm concerned.

...then whoa, differences...

reply

No.

What it comes down to is if your post contains spoilers you are supposed to use the options available. In your text you can announce "Spoiler" or use the spoiler tab to black out the specific text.

The onus is placed on the poster, not the reader as you keep suggesting.

I'm not forcing you to be in this discussion either, you have several options.

reply

Stop whining, it's your own fault and you know it

reply

This^

OP asked for a spoiler heavy answer and anyone with just a little bit of brain would know what he's getting into.

reply

I'm very particular about spoilers but I think you're going overboard. Whether the OP asked a question that pertains to the characters motivation is mute, the question pertains to plot points one would seek after seeing the film. The thread title clearly indicates this will be a spoiler thread, therefore it doesn't matter that the other poster gave away info gained from the movie ending since the question and thread is FOR those who have seen the film.

reply

Welcome to imdb, where people are so entitled they can open a thread asking a question about the movie then when it's answered whine about it. I personally just don't read the boards until I watch the entire movie, it saves a lot of grief and is not that hard.

I don't care much about spoilers. I kinda' like to know where I'm going.
I do tend to see a film before coming here to answer lingering questions.
And to pick up clues I might have missed along the way. Like how often the colors blue appears in the film.

That's a cool boss.
