Am I the only person who thinks the main actor isn't that great?

I keep reading from everyone that they think Macon did such a remarkable job in this movie and how much expression he showed with his eyes. Now I don't think he did a terrible job by any means but I felt he just had the same look on his face throughout most of the movie. And maybe I'm wrong but I think a lot of people are confusing the fact that he has large eyes with real ability to show expression. He does have some good moments though.

I guess you are indeed the only person that thinks that.

Lol yeah I guess so

I guess they cast him in Gold because he "isn't that great".

Well I don't think being cast in Gold automatically means he's great. It's a matter of personal opinion.

Yes, it is a matter of opinion. And my opinion is that he was excellent. The first 15 minutes or so rely soley on his facial expressions, his body language, the emotion, or lack of, in his eyes. I felt so badly for him in every moment of the film, which I believe is what we were supposed to feel. He was a broken man. He had no emotion; he didn't care if he lived or died. He only wanted to live long enough to keep his sister safe and avenge the murder of his parents. I believed he portrayed nihilism to perfection. I loved this movie, and he was one of the main reasons why. But that is just my opinion.

I like your reply. Maybe there was something in his performance that I missed. Could do for a rewatch.
