Gorgeous to look at

Saw this on BBC 1 tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it, Gripping story and a strong cast, Byrne fantastic, Gambon not so much. Was also great to see Geraldine Somerville again as I haven't seen her since her excellent role in Cracker. But it was the overall style and atmosphere I enjoyed the most, very beautiful to look at. I can't understand the poor reviews

It's too dark. The Film noir of the 30s and 40s were dark in a black and white sense; it doesn't work in colour and as I've mentioned before Byrne is whispering and boring - but I'm glad you liked it.

Just watching it after recording it I agree it is too dark. There seems to be a trend these days to try to give atmosphere by filming this way. It is extremely annoying and I wish they'd stop doing it.

It was not even nice to look at, dark but cheap in a tv budget looking way. All those exterior scenes with hardly any other person on the street.

Its that man again!!
