Turgid

I kept hoping it would improve...in vain. I won't be watching the two episodes still to come. Life's too short

Episode was a lot better then the first one which was turgid and had sound issues. I doubt Quirke will return for a second series when George Gently does this kind of thing better.

Its that man again!!

Completely disagree. Love Gabriel Byrne whatever he does, and he is excellent in this. Hope it comes back, seen 2 out of 3 and cant wait for 3.

Episode two was a lot better than episode one. But, it still didn't deserve to be 90 minutes long.

I completely agree with kathquay1. This is a superb, subtle, complex and intellectually demanding series with beautiful Irish accents instead of those incomprehensible US accents we are usually subjected to. Andrew Davies, the screenplay writer, is one of the best around for serious drama, the cast were superb and what a treat to see Gabriel Byrne and Michael Gambon together. Dramas like this make you realise there is cerebral and artistic fodder of the highest order, often unappreciated, compared with the over-hyped 'Breaking Bad' and 'Homeland' type US soapies.
