Why did they think it was a good idea to not have a villain for season 2?

I mean the entire season was Jessica dealing with her mommy issues, she was never in some life or death situation or in some big showdown with a super villain, there was none of that. It was just Jessica constantly not knowing what to do, whether to go with her mom or turn her in.

And the final episode Jessica's mom didn't go nuts and have to be put down by Jessica or anything, no she just went on a road trip then sat on a Ferris Wheel and got shot in the head.

This season suffered horribly by not having a big villain for Jessica to go up against, it was gonna be hard to top Kilgrave granted but not giving us a villain at all was stupid.

Eh, i wouldn't say that, the writing was nicely nuanced and twisty, though not the best, all the characters are kinda just assholes now. It would get kinda boring to just have a 'monster/big bad of the season' every season.

But this shows starting to lose me, there's only so much brat adult with issues out the wazhoo poor me poor me i can handle.
