Coming Soon: Watching Paint Dry with Ken Burns

Yes, cue up the sensitive, folksy music and find me Peter Coyote. We're going to take an in-depth look at watching paint dry. Four hours to explore it. With recollections from people who were actually there. Watching that paint dry. There's not a lot of footage or photos, cuz it happened long ago. So we'll just have to re-use the same pictures over and over again. Ken, you need an editor!

Starting from the very beginning of the origins of paint in caves of ancient Mesopotamian tribes, all the way to the modern founding of Sherwin-Williams and Dutch Boy and the powerful yet flawed Dutch boy the company was named for, to an exploration of the many different colors of paint people use, and the discussion of using one coat of primer vs. two. Featuring interviews with both Sherwin and Williams, as well as many qualified paint historians. Narrated by Tom Hanks.

kmorrison1: I'm with you. I didn't find it boring at all. It was amazing, interesting, and moving. Also, I could not help but note the parallels to our current times, which is frightening.

If Ken Burns did a documentary about paint drying I would watch it. I am not even interested in the Dust Bowl story but still gave it a 9 for being an awesome documentary. And I'm not even American.
