A Season 4 I'd like to see

I think it would be interesting to try a European version of this show. I'd like to see James McAvoy and David Tennant as the cops doing an investigation in Scotland.

I think they've got the ability to portray some pretty tortured personalities and I think Scotland provides a setting for very True Detective themes -- the poverty of Glasgow, the rural areas, and the potential for weird, pagan traditions existing in those rural areas.

There's enough Euros in American TV already.
I did think the last Season with the black and white detectives was really good writing and acting.
That was the best season, and something new in terms of detective plot.
I always think of that scene where the black detective is talking about not using foul language to describe women on his first date with his future wife ( and ex-wife ) and she asks him what he says. Cock holster. Hilarious from such a serious straight-laced up-tight guy.

Yeah, but this would be Europeans in Europe, which would make for an interesting twist.

And rural Britain and Scotland have the potential for pagan rituals that make the Yellow King look like child's play.

It was better than season 2 but season 1 is easily the best. Woody and McConaughey were flawless and Rust Cohle is probably one of the best TV characters ever created.

Both first and second seasons were run of the mill detective stories ... kind of boring except for fans who want to see their favorite actors. Season 3 was really interesting to me because the of juxtaposition of detective and Alzheimer's ... it was clever, well written and the characters were really fantastic. Having a triumphal story about Alzheimer's was also something that did not exist until this season's show. It really stood out.

Season 1 was anything but boring but to each their own

Maybe replace boring with cliche. Nothing new. At least admit S3 was totally new and unique to the genre?

I'd like it to be a military internal investigation about a murder that leads to connections to human sacrifice and Illuminati. Starring two B actors who are good but unsung in recent memory, etc

Mandatory: New show runner. Pizza got lucky with season 1. Someone new needs to pick up on what he stumbled into.
