Music causing tonal psyche outs in the final episode.

One thing that has stayed consistent throughout the entire series of True Detective is the music/ambience quality. The use of creepy music tones creates a wonderful sense of dread lurking in every scene. The final episode however was a complete psyche out to the audience in terms of music choice. Creepy, suspenseful music was playing throughout and literally nothing major or shocking happened. No wonder the owner of the New England Patriots was busted in a oriental rub and tug, he must have screened an early viewing of the last episode and needed some relief from the blue balls it gave him.

The discordant use of suspenseful music happened many times through this season. It was just more often and obvious in the last 2 episodes.

Still though, other than the let-down plot wrap-up, I liked the season. Some smart aspects of the writing and the two leads were fantastic.
