I thought season one was great story telling...

That didn't tell a great story.

reply

Season one was good. Season 2 was a disaster.

reply

Can't remember season two that well

reply

That's for the better.

reply

I am confused, did you like it or not?

reply

I did...but was a bit underwhelmed by it's conclusion. Great acting... direction... cinematography! Story was fairly tight...just felt there was a bit more to tell👍

reply

I would agree that the conclusion is the weakest part of the story, that's true for a lot of films and series. It's easier to set things up than to tie everything together. But true detective for me is all about the mood and atmosphere so I can forgive the conclusion.

If your looking for a mind-blowing ending, make sure you check out Sharp Objects ( I love both shows BTW)

reply

Read the book👍

I partially agree: the Season 1 story arc got a bit lost and muddled in the last few episodes. It was also supremely well-acted.

reply

Totally agree!

reply

Just watched Season 1 and that’s the feeling I got. Lots of story threads were ultimately irrelevant, it seems.

I’m still processing it but I’m not convinced S1 is the masterpiece everyone says.

reply

The villain was cartoonish and too easy to dislike. The story seemed to unravel the corruption of local law enforcement and the political apparatus supported by it, but in the end it relied on a "Deliverance" type of conclusion where it was just about evil, inbred Crackas

reply

I'd rather that than a good story told badly
