Season 2 was much better

It actually required thought and attention, which most viewers aren't willing to contribute to a season long storyline. Face it - most people are lazy and need a show laid out nice and neat for them. Like John Kass, a columnist for the Chicago Tribune, stated (paraphrased) - "It's for people who don't need to use a smart phone for directions. People that can figure things out for themselves." Pretty well said.

Lol @ this humblebragging.

Yeah man, you're a genius cause you liked a tv show that other people are too stupid to get how brilliant it was.

No need to invite us in your little wanking circle.

Did I say I was a genius?

I'm just a little more motivated than a lot of the lazy ass viewers on this board, that's all.

Did I say I was a genius?
yea you did

reply

Well, not literally. But take it any way you want to, f@ckboy.

S2 was very good its def underrated and I think like you said a lot of mindless viewers were expecting something exactly like season 1 but with new characters. That being said S2 is nowhere near as good as S1 and that's because S1 is the greatest season of a tv series ever

Yeah, we get it. You rate yourself. A piss weak argument though for claiming S2 is better than S1. (LOL!) Because a Chicago critic told you so.

I happen to think they are both very good and thankfully very different. 🐭

His comments spoke to viewers that liked a more in depth plot during the second season. Every other columnist I came across did not like the complications set forth, so I quoted a fellow who felt the same way as I and many other viewers do. Judging by those aforementioned reviews, and the amount of (and the content of) complaining on this board, I'd say I am in the minority. Anyone with an opinion is rating themselves against others in some way. I liked Season 2 because it was complex and it forced you to pay attention - if you didn't, you would miss something and be lost. And yes, this includes prodigy level geniuses such as myself who take an hour away from solving the mystery of cold fusion to watch 'True Detective". 😎

I feel if they had the right casting and the right director for season 2 then it would have been more successful. Unfortunately it had neither.

I think season 2 basically missed the mark, but I think it was a case of the show having a bit too much on its plate.

I would mark it at 15% stuff that worked, 15% stuff that fell flat on its face, and 70% drab mediocrity/averageness.

It had two really stupid moments--Ray threatening the bully's dad, and Paul calling his mom a c00ze. However, those were really the only two, and neither struck me as embarrassing or stupid as season 1's worst moments ("say it again rummy," Woody Harrelson punching his daughter in the face, Woody Harrelson scoring with young hot babes so that the camera can ogle their breasts, the knife in the gut at the end).

The murder mystery, in the end, turned out to be even less relevant (and even more convoluted) than season 1's, but the Hansel-and-Gretel thing involving the killer's identity/motive still wasn't as moronic as the "Green Eared Spaghetti Monster" clue.

The final episode at least involved a thrillingly nihilistic, well-shot chase scene, rather than season 1's ending, which was just a godawful "Silence Of The Lambs" knockoff.

Vince Vaughn was admittedly not great in his role, and miscast, yes, but nowhere near as bad as I'd expected--people REALLY had their knives out for Vaughn, don't deny it. What, the guy can't do a serious role anymore just because people now immediately think of him going "I hate you Ron Burgundy, I HATE YOU!!!"

Frank Semyon was the best character of season 2 hands down, while I agree Vince Vaughn is a limited actor he's nowhere near as bad as Taylor Kitsch. I mean they couldn't have gotten Emile Hirsch to play Paul?

reply

Ugh, the OP is so full of himself without even giving an example why he liked it.

reply

Yeah I liked it just as much, if not more, than Season 1
