Is the nerdy brother supposed to be gay?

When Holly is moving into the brothers' house, her bedroom is all pink and fluffy and girly.

Then one brother comments to the nerdy brother "Looks just like your room when you were little."

The nerd simply replies "fun-neeee" sarcastically.

I was like "What? Because he's a nerd that makes him gay, too?"

"Don't call me 'honey', mac."
"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"

I thought they said it looked like VICTORIA'S bedroom, NOT Alex's!

in the book Alex is married but his marriage is crumbling. They changed a lot in the adaptation.

I think they mentioned him having an ex- girlfriend when they were commenting about him keeping his molds in the kitchen cabinets. And I think they were joking about the bedroom, because Alex says " funny".
