The show is really good...She just doesn't let the guests talk enough

Katie Couric has always been great at light journalism and interviewing. And there's clearly a great production team behind this show. They remind me of how good Oprah's segments were. So it's a shame it isn't doing better and that it's ostensibly being canceled after this year. People give Katie Couric a lot of unnecessary grief because of her mediocre tenure as a nighttime newscaster. But she's always been endearing and in her element in these kinds of interviews.

One pet peeve: she doesn't let her guests talk enough. It's clear that she always does her homework and comes up with insightful questions. And there's nothing wrong with a little shameless fawning over a legendary guest. But sometimes she just rambles on and on before getting to the point of her question. Other times, she starts answering her own question. It's as if she wants to show off her knowledge, preparation, and appreciation of her guest, or as if she feels she has to cover for an older, less talkative guest, which is generally not the case. I never saw this problem when she interviewed guests on The Today Show. If she would just know when to stop talking and be more confident that her guests can eloquently tell their own stories, then Katie would be an even better show (regardless of what happens with the ratings).

She and Oprah always do that. It bugs the hell out of me. Or they ask a question and repeat the question if the person doesn't get right to the point.

I must have never noticed that with Oprah because at least she asks her questions eloquently and eventually shuts up to allow for interesting answers.
