Latest version of this is edited??

I rewatched this recently and they edited out the entire hotel night scene. The couple make love and it cuts back and forth between them and Mallory sleeping/writhing around in their bed. It was a powerful scene as it shows the couple reconnecting while showing how psycho Mallory is. The latest version cuts to commercial right after they take the phone call (not from Mallory) on the balcony and then they are shown returning home the next morning after the commercial. This annoys me for some reason. I'm not sure why it would be edited unless maybe it's a music rights issue? There was a song playing during the scene.
