Possible MPAA rating?

Is it going to be an NC-17 or just R?

A friend of mine who saw it at Sundance said it was rated NC-17. He also said it was more poignant than sexual, but did not say he was surprised by the rating.

I saw it. There is no way it could be rated R. It has real, unsimulated sex in it. That said, it's possible they may not even go for a rating. It's only 60 minutes long and will probably not be released to theaters anyway.

any nudity from Franco?

Any nudity from Franco? Nope. Quite a bit from others, however.

It shows onscreen erections and onscreen blowjobs. If it were submitted to the MPAA rating, it would get an NC-17. Obviously, the point James Franco made at one point in this movie is why does it have to be like that? Why do we get murder in our MPAA-approved previews, but sexual expressions of love automatically get an NC-17?

reply

Because the ratings system is based upon providing guidance to parents as to what would or would not be considered objectionable for their children to see.....on screen sodomy, with erections showing, is the kind of thing that most parents don't want their little children exposed to.

Contrary to popular belief, ratings are not a 'judgment' of a film's quality or redeeming value...simply a guideline for parents, and nothing more.

The bad news is you have houseguests. There is no good news.

But like johnmichael-2 stated so well, why is nudity and sexuality considered something we should protect children from...while scores of people killed (with their bodies splattering in multiple directions) something which makes it to thousands of movie screens on a regular basis?
