Missed opportunity

Though the movie isn't bad, it is not very coherent. But I feel it's a shame they deviated from the book this much. In the book, Paul started as someone you could identify with, who was observant and sympathetic person. In contrast, Serge seamed like a slimy politician. But during the diner you gradually began to realize that Paul was a bastard and Serge the nobel one. Paul loved Claire for being that protective and was fully Ok with the actions of her and his son. That is what I loved in the book!

I guess they were affraid to make the lead character a faulty person that realy is dangerous and a sociopath.
