Intense!

If there's one word to describe this movie, its intense. Its got a crazy pace and lots of ferocious set pieces.

Think of a Michael Bay film mixed with Outbreak or Contagion, and you have a small idea of what I'm getting at.

It has the over-dramatic love story, cute kid in danger, and all sorts of plot escalation when it could have ended earlier. There are a few cliches, but its one hell of a thriller.

I definitely recommend it to fan of Korean cinema or thrillers.

I saw it last night. I really liked it. I was confused by a few things, but enjoyed it nonetheless. It was worth the distance I had to travel to see it.

I thought it was enjoyable enough. It was a little odd to see the film start off like a romantic comedy and then turn into a full-blown epidemic disaster thriller, but the genre switch was part of the charm, I suppose. This film was clearly designed to be a crowd-pleaser, as I can almost picture the director checking off a list of everything he thought was needed to please everyone: big action setpieces, meet-cute romance, adorable kid, goofy sidekick, etc. He just managed to make it work. I thought the leads were appealing and the disaster setpieces were fairly exciting and well-handled.

I agree. I finally saw it this evening. By my other posts, you can see that I really enjoyed this film. It's a genre we don't really hate to many of in the States. Personally, I enjoyed watching the patriotism of South Korea without it shoved down the viewer's throat.
I enjoyed it & rated it high... I see I'm not the only one!

Intense is the right word for it, but to compare it to Michael Bay's empty trash is an insult. Bay films have no heart.

This was both better than Outbreak as an anxiety-filled detention/paranoia story surrounding illness, and better than Contagion as a human story.

It's implausible in parts (not moreso than Outbreak by any means), but it's loaded with suspense and genuine tension. You spend the entire time afraid for the characters. I've never given a damn about a Michael Bay character.
