At the end Fernandes looks more optimistic and even his clothing is different. What happened? What is the reason for this? He didn't meet the girl, he lost his job, his life didn't change. 😕

Earlier he feels like an old man whose life is over. But on his way to Nasik, he meets a really old man, which makes him realise that there is lot more left in his left. Hence he returns back optimistically.

He didn't lose his job; he retired as he had planned from the begining. His life did change: he moved to Nasik. The perspective of starting a new life made him optimistic.

He did not move to Nasik, but returned home upon meeting the really old man on the train.
