My Honest Opinion

I liked the movie. In fact I am a worship leader and my daughter sings with me and it was really personal for us as we watched it on a dad-daughter date. But I want to give my honest opinion.

Here is my honest synopsis. The issues of evil and temptation in stardom were sidestepped and illusive. (Example the Famous TV star that was not really interested in her but just wanted to use her) It was never really established or forthright whereas the issues of faith and conversion were presented in a way that could smash a grasshopper with a cannon.

My point is this, if you want to show the true healing power and restoration of Christianity, you have to really show the damaging and evil of the devil. At no point in the movie did I ever feel that the main actress was in danger or even struggling with evil. She was just less good later in the movie...but still good.

Grace was very headstrong and eager to get away from home so she could spread her wings. She faced temptations and could have really gone off the deep end, but the values her parents worked so hard to instill in her were always right there with her (like when she firmly stated she didn't want to sing certain immoral songs). And when she found herself questioning if that was the only way for her to fulfill her music dream, she had that guy to encourage her to stay true to her feelings. She was lucky in that way. Her parents raised her with good morals, and she encountered good people on her journey, even as she was fighting her faith. That's the impression I got from all of it.
