New stature? *spoiler*

So Tom says at the end that by winning the mayor's election, that it will be a "turning point" in their family history, it will open up doors for Rian, they will move into a "whole new class," they will have a "whole new stature," etc......

Serious? Just by being elected MAYOR of some suburb??? What planet was the movie set on? I didn't realize being a mayor is such a high elected official.

I did enjoy the movie and its premise, but that ending speech by Tom to Rian was just a bit much. Just my opinion.
