You have to show your cards in Texas Hold'em to win a pot

Ben's character wins a pot early in the movie after calling a guy's all-in bet. Guy auto mucks and Ben takes the pot without showing his cards. That's not how the game is played.

Yes, that is true in some casinos (you probably play in NJ or PA). I believe casinos in those states have that rule in place due to state regulations. But I've played in plenty of casinos where if the bettor mucks his hand at showdown, the caller doesn't need to show his hand to claim the pot.

As others have said on here, the gambling scenes portrayed in this film were very authentic. This scene was no exception.

I don't have the time to go back, but weren't they in a northeast area at the beginning of the movie?

If all the other players have folded, and you still have your cards, then of course you are the winner. It is fairly common that a bettor, who was bluffing on the river, doesn't want to show his or her cards and just mucks them face down. In this circumstance another player at the table can request the winner's cards be turned face-up but that is rare and it's considered rude to make such a request unless there is reason to suspect collusion.

You do NOT have to show your hand to win. If you call someone's bet and they muck their hand. You win.
