this is the only ending that could've redeemed this frustrating movie:

unbeknownst to the bad cop/intruder, right before the wife shoots him in the neck at the very end, she's just accidentally dropped her i-phone on the floor but it's already set to video-record in the direction of the cop/intruder, inadvertently recording him as he kills her, struggles to get out of his psychopath attire, back into his normal cop uniform and cleans up the crime scene, thus exposing him to the rest of the police force after the fact once they arrive at the house and search the premises for evidence..

the last frames of the film -after the bad cop flees the scene- could close in on the i-phone at the other end of the room as the good cops arrive, pick it up and press 'play' only to see the bad cop removing his mask, etc.. the audience would of course only find out about the i-phone recording [to great satisfaction] at the very end as the good cops view the video..

a bit of unexpected justice for the young couple from the great beyond..
