Not a Bad Movie for a Random Find

I've been watching random horror movies on Netflix that have decent descriptions and honestly this movie isn't horrible if you're doing the same. The main character makes some irrational moves multiple times, yeah it's heavily inspired by the Strangers, but the villain is nice, I like the atmosphere alright. Don't get me wrong, the movie isn't "AMAZING GO WATCH IT NOW!!!!" but not bad if you find yourself in the same situation I was where you've seen most of what Netflix has to offer.

I agree - if you're a genre fan you'll get something out of it. The camera work is very competent (the acting a little shaky but not too distracting). If you're a fan of Funny Games & The Strangers, you could do a lot worse than this.

What else do you guys randomly recommend?

reply

Total agree. Definitely fits in alongside the Strangers and Funny Games despite a $2 shoestring budget.

Totally disagree!!! This movie was a total waste of time!!! No development with the young couple and no plot!!! Totally rubbish!!! It's nothing like The Strangers!!! You guys must of been high watching this crap!!!

I was completely sober and I enjoyed it immensely. Much better than the Strangers.

It was kind of slow, but I enjoyed it until after the female lead escaped from the heater and started acting like an idiot (grabbing a cell phone but not immediately calling the police, instead opting to get a gun from a safe with no bullets). From there she just kept making stupid decision after stupid decision to the point where I just wanted the killer to hurry up and off her.

The movie was well-produced but pointless. The woman's actions were so stupid I was rooting for her to die. People that stupid should not contribute to the gene pool. I don't know why film makers think audiences enjoy pointless movies. If you are going to produce something, produce a script audiences will enjoy seeing. Horror movies don't have to have happy endings, but audiences should be made to care about the protagonist. That's hard to do when the protagonist is too stupid to live.

I mean, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. I don't think the people who say that it's pointless are wholly off-base here. I gave it a 4/10 not due to plot/storyline but because it's a well-shot film, and the masked villain was pretty creepy. I felt like the actors did an alright job, as well. If there was some kind of satisfying resolution to the film, I probably would've given it a 5 or even 6, but that ending really weighs it down.

It's really no different than "The Strangers", except they did it a hell of a lot better.
