Too bad Girls isn't this good...
...but Gerwig doesn't try to hog the screen like Dunham does. This is much better written and more believable also.

shareI kept thinking this is Girls the movie the whole way through.
Last Movies seen:
INLAND EMPIRE:9.55/10
Shooter:6.73/10
The Good Shepherd:7.89/10
Yes, as my wife and i sat around at a restaurant afterwards i made the
comment that "well, i think we pretty much saw how GIRLS is gonna play out
over the next couple of seasons..."
Gerwig was much more likable despite her hapless cluelessness regarding
her situation then Dunham ever has been.
"You have offended my family, and you have offended the Shaolin Temple..."
Yeah, and Greta isn't an annoying little twat like Lena Dunham is. Dunham is so awful on the show. Greta is so cute and believable as Frances.
shareInstead of contrasting the two, I think we would do good to praise the fact that visual narratives engaging in these topics are even being made. As someone who recently graduated from college and is experiencing a similar form of malaise, I'm glad to see these stories told. The fact that they also feature complex female characters is also something to be noted.
I personally love Girls, at least the first season, and thought that Frances Ha was another great addition to the genre.
I think there's been a rape up there!
I completely agree with you. I think this film tried to be more objective in its approach, whereas Lena Dunham is way too subjective and sympathetic toward herself. I also think the sex in "Girls" is gratuitous and degrading. Twenty-somethings have sex, some twenty-somethings have A LOT of sex, but the way it was done...I just didn't buy it.

I haven't seen Girls (TV series) but I recently saw Tiny Furniture, a film by Lena Dunham (who also made Girls). Frances Ha and Tiny Furniture are definitely very similar. I liked both, Frances a bit more.
shareAre you sure? GIRLS has 4 protagonists. This movie has one and she appears in literally every scene.
