Poor dialogue, direction, and story add up to a whole lotta nothing

Tried to be a cool indie movie but the slice of life story was implausible and and boring. Don't know if the actors couldn't deliver lines or if the director directed them to do it the way they did, but it came off as unnatural and amateurish. Don't waste your time.

Frances herself was quite appealing, but the scenarios she found herself in, were hardly of earth-shattering interest.🐭

Indeed. The tribulations of a twenty-something, of all trying to be cool and pretentious while perpetually bitching about all of your life "problems" and never content. Yeah, that's some real core drama / comedy material there.

What you said .Ditto

I gotta disagree with you on every count:

Dialogue was rich and layered, complex and overlapping. It stayed real, but advanced plot (like how Frances is having an awkward dinner party, then finds out about Japan and Sophie, and the whole thing just *flows*).

The acting style sounded like real people to me, and looked better. Gerwig has some great "facial gestures", and a wonderful physicality, and Adam Driver is always great.

Was there a deeper meaning to this movie, or was it just watching Frances float around for a bit? If that is all it was, then I guess it was ok.
