Kurtman/Orci duo make total crap movies that make no sense at at. They gave us Amazing Spiderman 2 and really awful Star Trek reboots.

Not surprising, The Mummy is poorly written and directed.

Agreed. These guys really can't write for shit and as a director Kurtzman totally dropped the ball on this.
