One Of The Dumbest Movies Ive Ever Seen

SPOILERS

How was this movie funded? I absolutely loved Animal Kingdom, but cannot understand why the director decided to take on such garbage. Writing was bland and never created any intimacy between the characters. Directing was good, a bit slow for my taste, had the writing been good, directing would have followed. Acting was good by Guy Pearce, I'm assuming Pattinson was suppose to be mentally retarded, if he was, he was adequate, if not, he was terrible. Music was incredibly pretentious and derivative, would have only been saved by once again, good writing. Editing was adequate considering the terrible writing. All great film starts with great or inventive writing. Practicality was thrown out the window in order for plot to exist and that is bad writing. Pearce could have simply asked for the dog in the beginning of the film, and I'm sure the "3 people" wouldn't have gave a *beep* yet a midget and 4 other men had to die in order to bury a dead dog. Why this film is getting so much praise on this board is beyond me, but the people who do like it, I could never trust your taste in anything. 6.4/10, more like 3/10. Because i loved Animal Kingdom, I Hope Michod's next film turns out well, but if not, at least he can retire knowing he made 1 good film, which is more than most can say.

I found it slower in the beginning and wished for more dialogue and interaction, but I found it brilliant in an apocolyptic economic collapse way focusing on every man for themself and how Pearce's character Eric snapped and the only connection and sympathy he felt was for dogs, his dog and needing its remains. Look at the reaction about Cecil the lion and how people question why some don't feel human life as important. While many found that questionable I found it brilliant in its simplicity and Eric's savagery in his insane quest.

Also the theme of desensitizing and influencing others in the way Eric did to Rey.

This film definitely isn't meant for everyone . I felt that the script at times was very thought provoking and moving . Especially when eric is talking to the military guy .
