53 years ago today

I remember it well. I was in junior high when the announcement came over the PA system. The first one was that President Kennedy had been shot and then a while later, the one that said he had died.

We went home early that day (it was Thursday) and did not go back to school until Monday. I remember when I got home that my mom asked me what I was doing home and then she asked if I had heard the news.

I remember being practically glued to our old black-and -white Zenith, watching everything as it unfolded. I remember seeing my first murder on live television when Oswald was shot.

It had quite an impact on me as I had just turned 13 a few weeks earlier.
