Worst show ever? - Getting On (2013) Discussion

I think so.

If they're trying to make something edgy like Showtime's Nurse Jackie, HBO has failed miserably. I feel like I have just wasted twenty-six minutes of my time. This was just PAINFUL to watch. I don't think I cracked a smile, let alone a laugh, once.

This was just horrible, and that's a shame since it has the wondefully (normally) funny Laurie Metcalf, and at least two or three other women I recognize but don't know the names of.

I would normally give a show a second chance, but not this time.

I guess I'll just be in the minority. I thought it was awesome. But I am a sucker for any workplace comedy that is in the same respect as The Office- whether it is docu style or not.

I thought it was the worst show ever but then I failed to change the channel before the following show, Ja'mie Private School Girl came on. That makes Getting On the second worst show on TV. What the *beep* is wrong with HBO!

Looking forward to giving this a go, I see some familiar faces. Jamaie rocks sorry, anything Chris Lilley pumps out is HILARIOUS! maybe you have to be aussie to get it, I didn't think so, i know his humour can be world wide hilarious. From the twins to smouse to poor tim and his overbearing japanese mum lol gold! Anyhoo just my bit. heres to hoping getting on isn't that bad.

How dare they give airtime to shows that you don't like?! I hope you can cure the affliction of being unable to change the channel to something more suitable to your tastes.

Once again, HBO is a subscription channel so subscribers more than have the right to critique its programming and expect more. Also, this is a board to talk about the show - it isn't a fan board.

The question is why you feel that you have to silence anyone who doesn't like the show.

The questions "What was HBO thinking" and "What's wrong with HBO?" (yes, on a public comment board) were proffered here. The answer to the first one is very simple. Their business model is to please a wide-ranging array of tastes, for which they provide a whole variety of original programming. Some of these choices may indeed include things that don't interest you. It's not called TJC (The Jeff Channel), for instance. If that were so they would consult you directly on their programming decisions.

"What is wrong with HBO?" That answer is also surprisingly simple: either nothing or everything. Humor is subjective and HBO offers plenty of choice as to what style or which performer may please you. All of us sign up and pay our monthly fee, beyond that we have two options: either ignore that among their programming which you don't approve or drop your subscription. The choice is yours alone to make. Whining won't accomplish anything, nor will it impress or influence anyone.

Couldn't agree more. People who label a show after ONE EPISODE to be awful should stick to 5 minute youtube vids. Give it a 3 episode arc before dropping feces on it. I was crying from both laughter and touching scenes... as was my wife. Taste is subjective... we will see how history will portray the show in the long run.

Except the show isn't about feces. One doesn't have to be "hipster" to understand that. But if you really think it's a show about feces, then that would certainly explain why you didn't like it.

No, it isn't a show about feces. BUT, the constant, repeated comments about it and referring to it were ridiculous. The "jokes," if you can call them that, were not funny, the constant bickering got irritating.

It is just NOT a funny show.

I do not see this show lasting very long. However, if it does, well, it confirms my theory about the "intelligence" of Americans these days.
