First Social Worker

Was the first social worker killed? If so, why is the real dad out so soon?

Also, why can't these two adoptive parents get their act together and at least take the baby's temperature?

Not quite sure if she lived or died, but 20 minutes into the movie, we learn that the biological father was charged with assualt with a deadly weapon, but he got off with a misdeamor and only a year in jail b/c the social worker didn't have permission to enter the apartment.

She has to be alive, or he would have been charged with murder, whether or not she had permission to enter the apartment.

I think the 2nd social worker isn't what she seems. So far this movie is ridiculous. Dumb, clueless couple, making idiotic decisions.

Okay, there were MANY problems with this movie, though I enjoyed it as ENTERTAINMENT. I was yelling at the tv though at some things that would NEVER be allowed to happen in the real world.

How does a woman who lost her children due to abuse and jailtime with DID get a job as a social worker? I think your right; she must have killed the social worker and took her identity. It is crazy that no one checked her credentials before and after. At first I was so mad at the idea that Kevin was able to even find the couple with Mona, but when you find out about Fay, it isn't surprising anymore or as angering because you're busy being angry that they did all these horrible things and killed all these people.

As far as what the new adoptive mom was unprepared for, I am with you. I realize she didn't have kids before, but if you were even CONSIDERING adoption, wouldn't you read all about the things you have to do? When the baby got home, wouldn't you have had all those things taken care of? Supplies, baby-proofing, etc. It is just crazy that these people were so unprepared. Plus that whole thing with postponing the court date - if I had a stalker (the cops irritated the heck out of me!), I would NOT want to disappear before the court date. I would KNOW that I would never get custody if I did that. I have never been in any situation like that and I could figure that out. I would think it would be a red flag if your social worker is not taking this stalker seriously, is OFFERING to postpone court dates, and all of the things Fay was doing and saying. I would have asked to speak to her superiors or I would have hired a lawyer.

Right. Then the police are all, "Well did he threaten you?" The Guy killed someone and just got released (being he was dropped off in a van and we did not see him escape and all) for murder and you are asking if he threatened you??? Stupido.

ALSO there was an issue with the mom and grandma. Remember in the beginning she made a comment about the book and the husband says, "she is excited to finally be a grandmother" and the wife says, "finally" and cringes? I think she didn't get along with her mother or something. Maybe her mother belittled her. Something was amiss there.

edit: mistake

The entire premise is wrong from the get-go. Social Workers do NOT break into homes. If there is suspected abuse, neglect, or worse, they call the police and wait for them to enter the home and bring the child to them. I have never heard of a social worker breaking into a home to check on a child. Social workers are fully aware of the dangers of their job with every case they get assigned to them. Also adoptions when a parent's right has been terminated (TPR) are protected to prevent such scenarios. It is not likely that a TPR'd biological parent would find the adopted home. I get that it is a fictional movie and a stupid on at that, but is not based on any realistic storyline at all.
