This is BRILLIANT

I always said I hated subtitles...then I saw Forbrydelsen and am now converted. If you don't give this a try you are missing out on a gem. A good family drama with the emphasis on the drama! The acting is great, and it is completely different from anything else I've seen. It may not be a murder mystery, but god does it keep me on the edge of my seat!

Last year I discovered I could really get into foreign language subtitled tv. Here's a list of some other subtitled programs you might want to check out. The original French version of The Returned http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2521668/ is the best by far.

My list of 30 foreign language drama's with English subtitles:

I love subtitles and Nordic shows like this.
I much prefer subtitles these days even on English speaking shows and movies, as they often mumble, have overbearing music interfering with the dialogue and just plain hard to understand.
So thank goodness for subtitles for everything.

quite agree. I always enable subtitles where available. Don't know why it is but actors are becoming increasingly difficult to follow, particularly the younger actresses. Maybe it's the absence of theatrical training. I have no trouble following dialogue in older Hollywood movies, but modern stuff, sometimes whole sentences fly by without me understanding a word.

Do you really prefer dubbing to subtitles for foreign films? I have no problems although I have to keep remembering that's it not so easy making a cup of coffee and watching. Apart from all that, I must admit that after Borgen and The Bridge I found this disappointing and "soapy", and I hated every character, especially Gro and smug Signe.
