It's a Lot....of *beep*

Watched this the other day, expecting a reasonably funny indy Brit flick. I didn't have the highest expectations, but seeing as it featured some of the cast/crew of Kidulthood, a film that I enjoy despite it's faults, I thought it would be worth a watch at best. However, no matter how low you set your expectations, NOTHING can prepare you for just how awful this film truly.

Right from the weirdly abrupt opening frame, it's clear that theres something off with this. Then we get this high contrast , overly sharp digital image that does nothing suggest that the DP of this film's an amateur. All of that would be forgiveable if the film had depth and decent humour. This is not to say that the film doesn't try because one of the most cringe worthy things about it is that you get a sense that the filmmakers think they are being hysterical and clever with this subversion of the African British male, but it's not. Juvenile jokes delivered in urban slang does not make for a fun film and it doesn't help that those jokes are delivered without rhythm or understanding for what's actually being said.

I really wanted to like this, but...gahh. Avoid. Seriously. Watch Attack The Block if you want a genuinely smart and subversive British comedy.
