Nina Conti might be the most brilliant ventriloquist I've ever seen.

Nina Conti might be the most brilliant ventriloquist I've ever seen. She breathes life into Monkey and really gives him a personality. Not only do I love the look of this puppet, but the voice she gifts him with is extremely pleasing to the ears. A refreshing, creative comedy with outstanding writers and performers. Another win for HBO!

I agree. Her comedic timing is impeccable!

Yes!

Go to the DVD of "For Your Consideration": there are 2 fab outtakes of her & Monk!
Quite enjoyable to get lots of the two of them together.

I think she may just be the first ventriloquist I've ever seen who I don't find insufferable. Most of the time, the dummy is just "id", with no redeeming qualities, and while Monkey does say the things that most people in polite company wouldn't say out loud, he also seems to care about her.

That is exactly what I realized, watching her, too. I actually enjoy her puppet! Love this brilliant show.

I cracked up at her flipping out when Monk went missing in the finale....yet I felt horrible for her too. She is really good.

I love how everyone who meets her acts like they don't see the puppet or seem to give it a second thought at all.

Walt Miller. Am I right?

I highly recommend watching some of the Nina Conti/Monkey videos that are on Youtube. She has a remarkable ability to split her personality between herself and her puppet.

I love Monk. He has a nice voice.

On the UK panel quiz show, QI, she admitted that she has actually found herself looking at Monk during a performance and wondering, "Why aren't you saying anything?", she's that into the performance.

That's how attached she is to Monk!
