4.9!!! Seriously?

Ridiculously low score. This is an atmospheric chiller with a good story/concept and the lead, Phoebe Fox is exceptional. The first film's story is better but Fox eclipses Radcliffe, performance wise. A really good ghost story that should satisfy any lovers of gothic fare. I can only think the slasher brigade didn't go for it!

The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.

I agree its to low it deserves at least a six. It was not as good as the first but not bad either.

There really wasn't that much to it. The first film wasn't brilliant either, but it at least managed a creepy, ominous atmosphere for the first half (it degenerated into cheap jump scares on Arthur's second night in the house) and the protagonist had a mystery to solve as he learned about who the Woman in Black was and what she wanted. The sequel never managed to be particularly spooky, and since already knew who Jennet Humfrye was - and her motivation in the film was blindingly obvious in the first few minutes - there wasn't much mystery left either. Throw in a couple of shallow protagonists with generically tragic pasts and a trite ending where everyone faces their personal demons and the power of love wins out, and there's not much more to say.
