Sauerkraut Western !

Really, after all the spaghetti westerns we had, I think I might enjoy a German one. The film is shown at the Berlinale and the topic is very interesting:

German settlers in the west is something you aren't going to see in many films and anything with Nina Hoss in it is a winner for me. I would have loved her to be the first winner of two Silver Bears for Best Actress for her performance (she should have also won for "Barbara" btw).

It's about prospectors rather than settlers.
Saw it yesterday in Ludwigshafen at the film festival. Slow film.

Will Graham: ‘I don’t find you that interesting.’
Hannibal Lecter: ‘You will.’

Well it's nice to see someone else with positive things to say about this film. I enjoyed it thoroughly! Thanks for pointing out Nina as the lead in Barbara. I saw that a couple of weeks ago and thought it was a great film as well.

RIP Philip Seymour Hoffman 1967-2014... a tremendously great and talented actor.

You're welcome.

Have you also seen Nina acting opposite the late, great Phil in "A Most Wanted Man" this year?

reply

No I've not seen it yet but of course I am wanting to! Have you?

reply

Not yet. Seeing it next month I think!

reply

Cool. Let me know what you think of it.

So, tiger, did you get to see the movie by now?

reply

No.  I live in a small town area and it seems a lot of films don't ever come here! Did you see it?

reply

Yes. Having read the book, I was a bit let down by the adaptation, but because of the bittersweet pleasure to see Phil in a final role that made justice to his talents, I was overall able to turn a blind eye on what I perceived as weaknesses. And I loved his chemistry with Nina.

My thoughts are here (just a warning, it might contain minor spoilers, even if I've seen to hide the big ones):

Thanks for the critique. I've not read the book at least that part won't affect me at all. Thanks for the link!
