I can't believe the low rating. No, this isn't an 'action' western if that's what you're looking for. It's certainly nice to see a lead female character who is more than a stereotypical female character in western film which normally portrays women as either whores or wives/mothers.

Completely agree. Had no problems with the pace. Loved the authenticity ... felt I was inside what a pioneer settlement must have been like as I have never experienced before ... you know, people probably weren't so different from ourselves back then except they lacked all the technology. Amazing film.
share100% agree. I think many people these days have a problem with films with a natural pacing and realistic, non-spectacular action. Another case is the recent version of "Michel Kohlhaas", I think: when it premiered in Cannes, it was knocked as the worst thing ever, but I ended up enjoying its quiet, subtle style very much. There are many different types of pleasure.
