Very bad film

This is a very poorly done movie - and I say this as someone who will usually watch anything. Wooden acting, lame action, lazy in the details. I couldn't continue watching past the middle of the first episode.

The lead actor never changes his wardrobe even when attending the Hague trial then meets with the Serb General alone in the prison to gloat? The AF 1 pilot with a beard? The Serb General gets communication with his henchmen while in prison. The AF 1 mechanic easily installs a device to sabotage the plane while the pilot watches.

Silly, silly, silly.

nothing but a poor man's version and a rip-off of Air Force One 1997!

Not so. This film is from a story that was novelised in 1981:

Hey folks,

Bad does not cover it. I cannot believe I actually sat through this whole mess. I should have stopped when I saw the US Air Force One pilot with the whole mustache and Fu Manchu goatee.

This was not based on an Alistair Maclean novel. Maclean had sketched a story outline before his death, but the storyline was very different. Maclean's story was written by another author and published as if it was written by Maclean and the other author. I did not read the novel. When Maclean died, I had no interest in reading pretend Maclean novels; he has written so many I do not have enough years left to finish re-reading them all.

When I get tired of re-reading Maclean's books, I can take a break and re-watch more than a dozen real Maclean novels which have been made into films. I can assure you, none of them is anywhere near as bad as this film.

Beat wishes,

I finally looked up James' husband and his credits on IMDB and then I flat out cackled because he wrote the screenplay for one of the worst miniseries I've seen in years: Air Force One Is Down.

I watched it recently because people I like are in it: Rupert Graves and Jeremy Sisto, for starters. With Linda Hamilton as the President! It sounds like it should at least be fun, but apart from some things that were laugh out loud bad in the first half, it's just bad. I hope the actors got nice paychecks out of the deal.

To give you some idea, it's a 4 hour miniseries which was filmed in Luxembourg and apparently went straight to video. I'd not heard of a straight to video miniseries before!

Anyway. Maybe he'll help her write the screenplay, though it does seem like they've tried to keep their work separate.
