Fake Maine

Although Farmington is mentioned a few times, none of this movie was filmed in Maine. the usual fake Maine (Canada and Massachusetts) and the usual fake Maine accents.

Not every movie is shot where it takes place.

The Martian wasn't shot on Mars. You shoot where the tax breaks are.

That was a disappointment. Those of us who know and love Farmington and Tumbledown were really looking forward to seeing a slice of our lives in this film. I really wish a real Mainer would be used to coach folks on the way people here actually speak, instead of that Tom Bosley "Murder She Wrote" nonsense. It makes us sound like idiots.

Well you just answered both of my questions...the accents and the film title! Thanks!

Tell that terrible governor of Maine to give film productions some tax breaks and maybe they'd film there more.

There is a very quick shot of Broadway in Farmington near the beginning of the movie when Hannah visits the bookstore. However, later when she visits again and meets Jason Sudeikis, they walk out of the store and the street they are on is completely different.

I DVR'd this movie specifically because my family has vacationed in Farmington/Industry for decades. Saw the title and description and figured there would be a little local flavor to the film.

I was disappointed that there weren't more actual locations used in the film, but I wasn't surprised when I saw the filming locations here on IMDb. The lake didn't look like Clearwater or any of the other nearby bodies of water.
